You Talked Me Off The Ledge

Since starting my personal grief journey, I appreciate learning further about grief within my community. Online I read about a Grief Healing Circle that meets in the evenings in St. Paul and its minutes from my home. After making contact I was encouraged to attend. The meetings take place in the Unitarian Church, it’s a comfortable, community space to gather. When I entered I was pleasantly greeted and offered fresh, healthy, delicious snacks, freebies and abundant comfy seating. We began by introducing ourselves, we chatted, played games and then discussed the topic of the evening. Brain Health. Whether its grief, trauma or simply daily living brain health is important and we need more conversations about brain health within our communities. Brain health info is not just for the clinic, school or doctor’s office. We learned about simple physical activities and exercises that can help keep our brain healthy. The evening was complete with information, games, conversation, physical activities and good food. We learned, played and laughed. We closed with a recap of the evening and affirming quotes. It was a good event with warm folks. I’m glad I got out of my comfort zone and met new people and learn new ways of thinking and living.
